Fr. Frey Field Makeover Minimize

Fr. Frey Field was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing on Labor Day Monday September 6 at 5 pm. Our pastor, Fr. Bob Evans was on hand to bless the field along with HSAA President John Nero, HSAA Treasurer Pete Kielhofner, HSAA Soccer Coordinator Mike Zakrzewski, former HSAA Treasurer Ken Schrumpf,  Saint Louis Soccer Hall of Famers Jan Gettemeier and Joan Gettemeier, Blaisers President Patrick Barrett, Grant Facilitator for HSAA Jenny Flores, HSAA VP Alissa Schulte Nicks, HSAA Field Manager Dave Klaus, HSAA Recording Secretary John Keeven, HSAA VB Coordinator William G. Peroutka Jr., HSAA Corresponding Secretary Matt Besserman, HSAA CYC Rep Scott Grothoff, Ming Saelee of the Bridgeton Landfill Community Project Committee, and Elizabeth George of the St. Louis Community Foundation.

The kids took to the field within a split second of the ribbon being cut. 2021 soccer registrants were invited to participate in an hour long training session with a few of our coaches to kick off the new field activities.

The inaugural game on the field was the "Red & White Game" between our 6th grade boys and 7th grade boys. It was a great game that ended in a 4-4 draw!

From the groundbreaking back in April through the ribbon cutting on Labor Day, it's all been about one thing - getting the boys and girls of our parish, our school a
and our community an excellent field to play on. Many thanks to the St. Louis Community Foundation for believing in our vision and there support throughout
this project. Also much appreciation to them for highlighting our field renovation project on the website. You can find the article here - stlgives.org.
